Warringah Charges to 2nd Place at 2025 SC Metro Championships!

What a weekend! The 2025 Short Course Metro Championships saw a phenomenal showing from Warringah, with 51 swimmers hitting the blocks across more than 220 events — and the results speak for themselves!

🥇 Medal Tally:

  • 27 Gold
  • 21 Silver
  • 13 Bronze
  • 149 Top 10 finishes
  • 10 NSW Metropolitan Records
  • 1 NSW All Comers Record
  • 1 Australian Age MC Record

It was a spectacular weekend of racing and record-breaking for Warringah! Gemma Sellick stunned the crowd by shattering the Australian Record in the Girls 15 Years MC SB8 100m Breaststroke, a phenomenal achievement that puts her among the nation’s best.

  • 🥇 100m Breaststroke – Australian & NSW Record SB8 MC 15 Years

Not to be outdone, the Higgs brothers and Caitlin Potter delivered powerhouse performances, breaking an incredible nine NSW Metropolitan Records between them.

  • 🥇 50m Backstroke – NSW Metro Record

🔥 Sam Higgs (18 Years):

  • 🥇 100m Breaststroke – NSW Metro Record
  • 🥇 200m Breaststroke – NSW Metro Record
  • 🥇 400m Individual Medley – NSW Metro Record

🔥 Luke Higgs (17 Years):

  • 🥇 400m Freestyle – NSW Metro Record 17 yrs
  • 🥇 800m Freestyle – NSW Metro Record x 2 (17yrs & Open) & All Comers Record 17yrs
  • 🥇 1500m Freestyle – NSW Metro Record x 2 (17yrs & Open)

Their determination, skill, and competitive drive were on full display, and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievements. An outstanding effort from some of Warringah’s finest!

The Piranhas’ incredible performances led to Warringah securing 2nd place overall — our best-ever Short Course Metro result!

More than just medals, the weekend was a celebration of determination, resilience, and team spirit. From first-time competitors to seasoned athletes, every swimmer gave their all, supported one another, and represented Warringah with pride.
