Warringah Storms the 2025 Australian Age & MC Nationals with Record-Breaking Performances

April 27, 2025 by admin

Warringah Swim Club made waves at the 2025 Australian Age & Multiclass (MC) Nationals, delivering a standout performance that saw our swimmers rack up 13 Gold, 5 Silver, 1 Bronze, and a stunning 34 finals appearances. The team’s efforts secured 18th place nationally, with a total of 940 points — a testament to our swimmers’ relentless determination, talent, and team spirit.

The competition began with a bang as Gemma Sellick set the tone for an incredible campaign. Gemma dominated the Multiclass events with:

  • 🥇 Gold in the MC 100m Backstroke and 200m Individual Medley
  • 🥈 Silver in the 50m Breaststroke, 50m Backstroke, and 100m Breaststroke

In an inspiring display of excellence, Gemma broke her own Australian record in the Girls 14yrs MC SB8 50m Breaststroke — not once, but twice — first in the heats and again in the finals. She concluded her Nationals run with a 4-second PB to take Gold in the 200 IM. Congratulations, Gemma!

Our able-bodied swimmers followed with a brilliant display of racing, kicking off their campaign with 17 individual races.

Heidi, Amelie, and Emily all impressed in the 100m Freestyle, with Amelie punching through the 1-minute mark to clock a PB of 59.52 and reach the B Final. Lachie and Cooper kept the momentum going, with Cooper advancing to the B Final in the 100 Free after setting PBs in both the heats and final, ultimately placing 2nd in the B Final. Jess posted a solid swim in the 200m Free, while Sam notched a fantastic PB in the 200m Breast, advancing to the finals and bettering his time once more. Rookie Chloe G made her Nationals debut in the 100 Butterfly, just outside her PB. Meanwhile, Charlie and Luke opened their campaigns in the 200m Individual Medley — Luke went on to win Silver with a gutsy PB and strong finish. Racquel impressed in her 100m Breaststroke debut with a PB. To cap off the day, Hannah earned a Silver medal as part of the Girls 12–14yrs State Relay team.

🔥 Momentum Builds Through the Meet

As the meet progressed, Warringah continued to deliver. Pippa showed poise in a fantastic 50m Backstroke swim. Sam returned to the water and claimed Gold in the 200 IM, once again breaking his PB in both heats and final. Caitlin launched her Nationals with a powerful 200m Backstroke. Charlie and Mia added to the PB tally in the 50m Breaststroke and 100m Freestyle, respectively. Hannah stole the spotlight again, advancing to the 100 Free final as the fastest qualifier and storming to Gold with a huge PB of 56.62. Rookies Hana and Kester both swam personal bests in their first-ever Nationals, while Noah earned a place in the B Final with a strong swim in the 100 Free.

The final days of competition were so thrilling and packed with action that there was barely time for updates — but the results spoke for themselves.

Warringah closed out the 2025 Age Nationals campaign with:

  • 🥇 13 Gold
  • 🥈 5 Silver
  • 🥉 1 Bronze
  • 🎯 34 Finals
  • 🏅 940 Points, finishing 18th in the nation
