THE BENEFITS OF BEING A MEMBER

Being a member of Warringah Aquatic Swimming Club (WASC) gives the swimmer the opportunity to experience competitive swimming at any level, from Club swimming through to National and International level.  The Club runs Inter-Club and Club Only race meets a few times throughout the year where members can gain race experience and qualifying times in a relaxed atmosphere.  For information on how to join our Club, click here.

Our Club is affiliated with WASA, SMNE, Swimming NSW and Swimming Australia.

We recommend all parents apply for their free volunteer Working With Children Check from the Office of the Children’s Guardian. Apply here now (if you already have one please email that to our secretary.)

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

New season memberships will be available from 1st September 2025. Between August and the new season, memberships will not be available.

From 2025-26 Membership season (1 Oct 2025 to 30 Sep 2026) there are three swimmer categories and one non-swimmer category:

1.  Full Swimmer +/- WASA

For the more serious swimmer wanting to take swimming further and compete against other Clubs and earn times for Area and State meets.  This membership allows the swimmer to compete at any official Meet (except Masters), earning qualifying times along the way which can open the doors to multiple other Meets, be it Club, Area, State or National.

Any new member under the age of 18 must also register a parent as a non-swimming member of Swimming NSW. This is a club policy, but also provides insurance for that parent in the event of injury at a Club, Area or Swimming NSW sanctioned event.

Includes:
– Access to the exclusive online members area
– Swim Central Member exclusive communications
– Injury insurance cover for training AND racing
– Eligible to represent and earn points for your club at Area, Metropolitan, Country and State Championships
– Eligible for Metro North East Area development activities and meets

2.  Club Only Swimmer + WASA

Ideal for competition swimmers who want to take it a step further than School Swimming and would like Official times, can be upgraded to Full membership at any time throughout the season.  This membership allows the swimmer to compete at the unofficial WASA Meets and any meets run by our Club.  We normally run a winter and summer Meet and occasionally will hold mini-meets and Friday night races depending on pool availability.

Includes:
– Insurance cover
– Eligible to Compete at any WASA meets (race entry fees apply)
– Eligible to Compete at any Warringah Aquatic Swim Club run meet (race entry fees apply)
– Your results are official (except for WASA meets) and can be used to enter School Area or School State competitions (where applicable)

3. Dry Member

This product is for non-swimmer coaches, officials, parents and any other members who wish to remain dry. Any new member under the age of 18 must also register a parent as a non-swimming member of Swimming NSW. This membership requirement is in place to ensure the safety and well-being of our young swimmers and to maintain open lines of communication with parents and guardians. This also provides insurance for that parent in the event of injury at a Club, Area or Swimming NSW sanctioned event.
Includes:
– Opportunity to become accredited as a Swimming NSW and Swimming Australia Technical Official under the National Officiating Scheme
– Opportunity to vote in your club’s AGM and have a say in how your club is run
– Insurance Cover – out of the pool

4.  Winter Full Swimmer (Half season not available until 1st May)

For the more serious swimmer wanting to take swimming further and compete against other Clubs and earn times for Area and State meets for the latter 6 months of the membership year (1st May – 30 September).  This membership allows the swimmer to compete at any official Meet (except Masters & WASA), earning qualifying times along the way which can open the doors to multiple other Meets, be it Club, Area, State or National.

Any new member under the age of 18 must also register a parent as a non-swimming member of Swimming NSW. This is a club policy, but also provides insurance for that parent in the event of injury at a Club, Area or Swimming NSW sanctioned event.

Includes:
– Insurance cover
– Eligible to compete at any Club, Area, State or National meet (race entry fees apply)
– Your results are official (except WASA meets) and can be used to enter School Area or State level competitions (where applicable)

How To Join

The swimming season commences on 1st October and concludes on 30th September each year, however you can join the Warringah Aquatic Swim Club for the 2025-2026 season from the 1st September, 2025 onwards.  Summer season is October to April, Winter season is May to September.

If you have never belonged to a Swimming Club in NSW instructions on how to become a member can be found here.  You will register in Swim Central first as the “guardian” and then you will add your swimmers to your family group by adding them as “dependents” if they are under the age of 18.  Once you are registered you will need to purchase membership packages.

Members must renew their membership prior to competing in October in order for your times to be official.  The Winter Membership will commence on 1st May 2026 and expires 30 September 2026.

RENEWING MEMBERS

Existing Warringah members will see their existing product appear in their cart on Swim Central. If you wish to change the product, simply remove the product from your cart and select a different product. When you log into Swim Central you may see a yellow “actions pending” button, click to review.

If you are joining Warringah from another Club, MID SEASON you can find the complete joining/transferring instructions here.

Note, if you have previously been a swimming Club member but missed a year or more hence have never used Swim Central, you will still have an existing Swim Central ID so do NOT create a new Swim Central ID.  Try logging in with the email you would have used and then click “Forgot Password”.  If that doesn’t work, email Swim Central Help to request your log in details.  Make sure you give them your swimmer’s NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH and which Club they used to belong to.

NEW MEMBERS (who have never ever belonged to any swimming Club in NSW)

For members who have never belonged to a swimming Club in NSW.  New season membership commences 1st October, 2025 (you can join from the 1st September, 2025 onwards).

The annual fee registers a member with the following swimming organisations:

  • Warringah Aquatic Swim Club (WASC)
  • Swimming Metro North East (SMNE)
  • Swimming NSW (SNSW)
  • Swimming Australia (SAL)
  • Warringah Amateur Swimming Association (WASA) – optional

Any new member under the age of 18 must also register a parent as a non-swimming member of Swimming NSW. This is a club policy, but also provides insurance for that parent in the event of injury at a Club, Area or Swimming NSW sanctioned event.

TRANSFERS

For members who belong to another swimming Club but would like to belong to Warringah Aquatic Swim Club instead.

If you would like to transfer from another Club to the Warringah Aquatic Swim Club please follow the instructions for renewing and purchase a Warringah membership product but choose the club Warringah Aquatic Swim Club in the dropdown box (instead of your old Club). A “Transfer” button will show up in your memberships on your original Club if you have already purchased a membership for this season. Further instructions can be found here.

WHAT DO MY MEMBERSHIP FEES COVER

Our Club is a volunteer-run not-for-profit community organisation which provides subsidies to eligible swimmers, and subsidisers Relay Teams, coach attendance at meets, camps, bus trips, competitions, professional speakers, and other sports professionals, and various Club run activities.

Our latest initiatives include the high performance squad lactate testing that our Club has fully funded.  Lactate testing ensures that the most accurate and effective training is being undertaken within our program.  In addition, with the help of a government grant, our Club funded the renovation and provision of the gym and equipment facilities to enable our swimmers to be able to work on their dryland activities in a professional space with appropriate equipment supervised by our professional trainers.

In addition to the government, insurance and other administration fees incurred by our Club, your membership fees also include comprehensive injury insurance cover when participating in Club activities.

The majority of your Swimmer membership fees cover the National (SA), State (SNSW), & Area (SMNE) fees, with or without optional WASA membership fees. Only a small portion goes towards our Club (WASC).  Non-swimmer membership fees cover the Swimming NSW fee of $37.96 (excluding GST & Fees).  SNSW/SAL currently do not offer a half-yearly membership.

What’s Next?

Once you have a membership, you’ll be able to enter meets you’re eligible for. Be sure to check out the Events Calendar on our homepage, and have a chat with your coaches – they’ll be happy to guide you in choosing the most suitable meets to enter.

You can expect to pay anywhere from $5.00 per race for Club meets, $12–$15 for Inter-Club & Area meets, around $25-$30 for State meets, and up to $40 per race for National-level competitions, depending on the level and type of the meet. All events are pay per race and in addition there may be venue entry fees depending on the location and host of the meet.
